Yuliya Slukhinska
Chander’s work is rooted in the art of listening, attending what is often overlooked, unheard, or silenced.
Through ethnography, artistic practise and cultural exploration, Chander creates spaces where suppressed voices, environments, and histories can speak for themselves.
With roots in the Netherlands, Suriname, and India, his work mainly focuses on protecting vulnerable cultures within these regions, affected by colonialism.
Drawn to practices beyond performance, Chander approaches music and sound as a way of meaning-making. Instruments, voices, and cycles of nature hold stories of history, resistance, and resilience. Deep listening, he believes, can open the dialogue to understanding; of each other and of the world around us.
